The Chateau des Moulins has been owned by the same family for 6 generations. Located northwest of 3 first-growth châteaux and next to the Abbey of Vertheuil. These 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot vineyards were historically run by Monks of the Abbey and are planted on a sandy, gravel soil. Concrete tanks are used, not oak barrels, in order to preserve the complexity of the aromas. This estate produces a floral, polished, and spicy wine. Elegant and juicy with a medium body that is very full on the palate. Rich dark, red berry and thyme flavors. Pairs well with rich potato dishes and gratin dauphinoise, mushrooms and truffles, and green beans with garlic.
