Lupo is an interesting throwback to the way Sangiovese was revealed a few decades ago. Fabio used older clones which yield much larger bunches of grapes than more modern clones. The result is a lighter expression of Sangiovese than we are accustomed. This is a really pretty and exciting wine. Crystalline, cherry red in colour, the wine is dominated by notes of wild strawberry and red cherry, white pepper and Mediterranean herbs. Lupo is a fresh, summery wine. On the palate the wine shows great tension and minerality.
